Monte Vista High School’s Instrumental Music programs are almost entirely funded by class donations and efforts of the Monte Vista Keynoters. Monte Vista Keynoters is a parent-led, nonprofit organization making quality Instrumental Music education possible through your tax deductible donations, fundraising, and community support. With your help, MVHS can offer a vibrant music classes and award-winning ensembles that teach musicianship, responsibility, time management, self-discipline, and the value of teamwork; while providing students the opportunity to develop meaningful connections to their school and each other.
Last year, through your generous donations, Keynoters was able to fund 14 coach buses and 5 rental trucks to transport musicians & instruments to competitions, entrance fees to competitions and events, instruments (new, rentals, repairs), sheet music and supplies, instruction from professional musicians, uniform maintenance and Orchestra dress rentals and so much more.
With your support this year, we can provide another year of wonderful opportunities to include:
- Orchestra & Chamber Orchestra performing at the Area Strings Festival
- Jazz A & B traveling to 3 (or 4) Jazz competitions
- Wind Ensemble, Orchestra & Chamber Orchestra attending an SF Symphony open rehearsal
- Wind Ensemble, Orchestra & Chamber Orchestra traveling to compete at Music in the Parks
- Wind Ensemble & Drum Line performing at the Area Band Festival
- Marching Band/Color Guard performing at 5 football games, Halloween parade and traveling to 4 competitions
- Wind Ensemble performing commencement music at MVHS graduation
- All ensembles performing at Winter & Spring Instrumental music concerts
Suggested Annual Class Donation Amounts: Each year, Keynoters and our music teachers carefully determine class donation amounts based on costs to run each specific program. Visit

- Symphonic Band - $100 (click “Other” and enter $100)
- Wind Ensemble - $375 (click "Other" and enter $375)
- Marching Band/Color Guard - $875
Multi-Ensemble Discount: If your student is in more than one Instrumental Music class, you may take advantage of a $100 discount. Use the “Other” button to enter a total amount for multiple classes minus the discount. For example, if your student is in Marching Band/Color Guard and Wind Ensemble, the suggested donation would be $875 + $375 - $100 = $1,150. To donate this amount, please click “Other” and enter $1,150.
