To support a positive, compassionate school culture and climate at Monte Vista with ongoing programs for all students. Monte Vista has faced and responded to its own racist incidents, not to mention incidents involving gender, sexual orientation, religion, among others. Though these events are damaging and disheartening, we will continue to take an anti-racist approach and work to uproot racism and division at its source. We remain committed to listening to our students, examining our own biases, and building community partnerships to transform our policies and practices that support systemic racism, division, or inequality.
Monte Vista High School and the San Ramon Valley Unified School District remain committed to equity work. We continue to educate ourselves as leaders so that we can educate our staff and students on the importance of standing with our full community in the face of injustice. We do not know what shape this work will take in the coming year, but we do know that this work cannot now, or ever, fade into the background.
